Choose your Genesis child theme optimized for Gutenberg or even with Genesis onboarding (guided configuration).
– LIST UPDATED IN FEBRUARY 2022.
Since the release of the block editor in WordPress 5.0, Genesis has been working hard to make the most of it.
Genesis Framework core was immediately updated to make all child themes compatible with Gutenberg, but to take full advantage of the editor, child themes also need to be modified individually.
Depending on the degree of adaptation, we can distinguish 3 categories:
- Compatible child themes: all Genesis themes are compatible with the block editor.
- Optimized child themes for the block editor: These are not only compatible, but also take advantage of the block editor. For example, they support full width or add a custom color palette.
- Child themes with guided onboarding: Starting with Genesis 2.8, themes can offer one-click onboarding (Genesis onboarding) to leave them as they were in the demo. In addition, these themes have a homepage created with blocks instead of widgets (the classic method).
You can see that there are substantial differences between the three categories.
Want to know which Genesis child themes fall into each of these categories?
Here’s the updated list (February-2022).
Remember: all Genesis themes are Gutenberg compatible, so they all fall into category 1.
